One of the sculptures was carved marble, from a tombstone, location of sculpture unknown. Second was carved from compound stone (in photo).
A significant early image in the artist’s work, it also appears in a mosaic
(H: 33” x W: 25”); and in a print called Farewell (H: 19.5” x W: 12.5”), one of the Eight Hand Prints in the iconic portfolio put together by Herbert Siebner in 1959.
